Community Christmas party at the Last Shot

Great food and piles of presents for the kids

By David Josselyn

The Grinch’s heart grew two sizes, but there are some whose hearts just stay large all year long. Known for hosting fundraisers for people in need, owner and operator of Roy’s Last Shot in mid-county Gilpin, Roy and Barb Stewart, once again opened their doors and hearts to the community for their annual Community Christmas Party. A free buffet was served up to all who entered the fun and festive atmosphere, but more impressive was the piles of presents waiting for the children of the community.

Children of the community had the opportunity to visit Santa and pick out a gift from the stack. There were also four bicycles raffled off in a drawing to four lucky kids. Folks from the community donated so many new toys and candy, they ran out of places to put them. Many happy smiling faces abounded around Roy’s; from Timberline firefighters to seniors to families, folks enjoyed the peace and warmth of the season.
